Lands End to John O' Groats - Mission Accomplished
On Sunday 27th September at 11am, Lloyd finished his monster T-Rex Treks walk at John O'Groats. Walking with a life size tyrannosaurus rex and taking 70 days to complete, Lloyd has completed the 1,000 mile walk and visited 25 towns and cities fundraising en route raising over £150,000 for Teenage Cancer Trust to date.
At a reception at the Castle of Mey, Lloyd will climbed up on top of the T-Rex as promised all trek!
Dressed in a pith helmet and safari 'hunter' suit, Lloyd has trekked throughout the length of the UK, turning heads, raising money and smiles whilst doing so and has displayed the 13 feet high 30 feet long dinosaur at venues such as Birmingham, Liverpool and Glasgow.
'The warmth and generosity of the British people has just been fantastic,' said Lloyd, 'everybody seems to have a fascination with dinosaurs, not just the children. I have also met some real characters on this trip, some that have even asked if the dinosaurs are 'still knocking around.'
'We also nearly lost the trailer with the T-Rex in Loch Ness when it began to slide down into the Loch, what would people have made of that two monsters to look out for!'
Lloyd who most famously completed the London Marathon in a deep-sea diving suit, is celebrating 20 years since his life-saving bone marrow transplant and wanted to do something 'larger than life' for a charity that is very close to his heart.
Some interesting facts:
20 - number of years since Lloyd's bone marrow transplant, also the number of operations he has had since!
2 - the number of replacement hips he has.
2,000,000 - estimated number of steps it will have taken to complete the journey
0 - Amazingly Lloyd has not had a single blister (he puts this down to great shoes, great insoles and great socks), but does have some nerve damage and numbness to the bottom of his feet from the constant pounding).
The most amount of road kill Lloyd has seen so has been...... bumblebees!
